Introduction As far as Human Resource management is concerned, I would say that HRM can play pivotal and constructive role in an organization towards the success in spite of the fact that there are many challenges which can be seen in the volatile business environment. Furthermore HRM has contributed massively for the sustainable development of an organization all over the world being very critical area when it comes to analytical approach at a time when problematic situations are on –going. What HRM is……………? In fact, I would like to bring your attention about the definitions available according to time and motion studies, Human resource management (HRM) is concerned with all aspects of how people are employed and managed in organizations. It covers the activities of strategic HRM, human capital management, knowledge management, corporate social responsibility, organization development, resourcing (workforce planning, recruitment and selection and talent management), ...

Performance Management (PM) World where we are living is getting more and more competitive and furthermore in order to survive on it, we have to think and work very differently. When it comes to business world, it is even more competitive and that is where performance management (PM) plays a pivotal role as far as competitive word is concerned. Moreover PM is an important HRM process that provides the basis for improving and developing performance and is also part of the reward system too. According to Weiss and Hartle (1997)  he further states that performance management is ‘A process for establishing a shared understanding about what is to be achieved and how it is to be achieved, and an approach to managing people that increases the probability of achieving success.’ However when discussing PM, it is also getting connected with word called performance appraisal which can be defined as the formal assessment and rating of individuals by their managers at or after a...

Organizational Culture; Introduction of organizational culture. As people working in an organization are in a fast-moving word, the organizational culture is also getting changed accordingly. In fact the culture of an organization affects the way in which people behave and has to be taken into account as a contingency factor in any programme for developing organizations and HR policies and practices. This is why it is important for HR specialists as well. The Organizational culture The pattern of values, norms, beliefs, attitudes and assumptions are known as organizational culture. In fact ‘Values’ refer to what is believed to be important about how people and organizations behave. ‘Norms’ are the unwritten rules of behavior. According to Eldridge and Crombie (1974), he says that the culture of an organization refers to the unique configuration of norms, values, beliefs and ways of behaving. Significance of culture, Furnham and Gunter (1993) ...

World is ever-changing and many organizations are seeking as best opportunities as possible in order to face the changes taking place around them in which case HR plays a pivotal role in building and sustaining organizational capabilities. Moreover I am deeply concerned about organization development which is very critical from an organizations point of view. Introduction of organization development Organization development (OD) is about taking systematic steps to improve organizational capability. Moreover this consideration is given to the assumptions and values of OD and OD activities. The definition of Organization development According to French and Bell (1990), he says that their focus is on organizations and their improvement and further to put it another way is   total systems change. Moreover the orientation is on action to achieve desired results in line with planned activities. However Organization development aims to help people work more ef...

Contemporary Human Resource challenges are arising since entire world is changing and moreover simultaneously challengers are getting higher and higher. But then again it is time to implement better practice and underpinning of the concept of HRM. In fact I discussed high-performance work system in my previous blog and I am now concerned about the employment relationship. When it comes to the employment relationship, it is established where employers and employees work together and furthermore the positive employment will drive an organization to create trust and Mutuality. Actually this is the state in which management and employees are interdependent and both benefit from this interdependency. In addition such relationship causes to develop a foundation for employment and employee relations policies developing a climate of mutual trust. The employment relationship definition In the eyes of law an employee is someone working for an employer who has the ultimate ri...

I have been discussing some contemporary human resource challenges in my five blogs, and hereafter I am deeply concerned regarding High-Performance of work system. When it comes to an organization, I would say that    Organizations are in the business process of achieving sustained high performance. However they do this through the systems of work they adopt but these systems are managed and operated by people. Ultimately, therefore, high-performance working is about improving performance through people. This can be done through the development and implementation of high-performance work systems. High-performance working can involve the two ‘ideal type’ approaches to HRM identified by Guest (2007); 1.      The ‘high-commitment’ model 2.      The ‘performance management model’ High-performance culture The aim of a High –Performance work System (HPWS) is to achieve a high-performance culture, Char...
