Contemporary Human Resource Challenges - 03
Well, I have
been expressing contemporary Human Resource issues through my first and second
blog consecutively. In fact what I have focused here is the impact of productive
learning and development process which is another critical issue in relation to
Human Resource Development. As Guest (1997) says ‘The
distinctive feature of HRM is its assumption that improved performance is
achieved through the people in the organization.’ If, therefore, appropriate HR
policies and processes are introduced, it can also be assumed that HRM will make
a substantial impact on firm performance. But having said that, most of the
learning and development programs being conducted in Sri Lanka have not been
productive particularly in education field, as a result teacher’s performance cannot
be expected as productive as other developed countries. Meanwhile what can be seen
in other organizations too is that employees tend to be less productive due to
lack of proper learning and development process.
Training and Development regarding workforce
From the organization’s point of view, they expect as best performance as possible from each and every employees but Investing in the training and development of lower-level employees is another common HR problem. Some businesses have difficulty finding the resources to do so. Employees on the front lines are some of hardest workers, and may not have the time to take a training course. But when it comes to the point, I would say that Training and development doesn’t have to take a lot of time or money. We could also provide online training courses so that it could be even more efficient and effective.
What are the Most Common Training Challenges and how do successful managers overcome them?
Whether your
organization is well-established or a brand new startup, one thing you cannot
afford to ignore is providing your employees with the best possible training
you can. After all, it’s the scaffold that will help your business grow and
remain competitive.
However, it’s not
necessarily easy to set up that each company is unique, and there is no
one-size-fits-all training solution out there. You need to create a
learning and development program that addresses the training challenges
your organization and employees.
The challenges of
training and development in an organization are fairly similar wherever you go.
What training needs to be delivered – and to who?
The most common issues in training and development is pretty obvious – what exactly should your program be comprised of?A big problem which some Learning and Development managers face is a portfolio of courses that is too big, too unwieldy, out of date, repetitive or just useless.
